Dr. Adam Creasy
Dr. Adam Creasy is the founder and president of EdPsyched. A California native, Adam came to Austin in 1995 as a freshman on the University of Texas swimming and diving team where he won an individual Southwest Conference championship and the NCAA team championship. After receiving his B.A. in English and teaching in Los Angeles, Adam returned to Texas to pursue his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, specializing in learning skills and motivation. Throughout his graduate studies Adam worked as an academic mentor for various athletic teams at Texas and coached the club diving team at the West Austin Athletic Club.
Upon completing his Ph.D. in 2006, Dr. Creasy served as an academic counselor and educational psychologist for the Texas football team. He provided guidance to numerous football student-athletes, focusing on those who struggled with psychological and academic difficulties. During his seven-year career with the football team, he was able to complete his licensure as a Psychological Associate in the state of Texas and serve as the chairman of a prestigious NCAA committee examining educational impacting disabilities. At the same time, he continued working with middle-school and high-school students, offering academic support in conjunction with their unique learning styles.
After assisting hundreds of student-athletes, Dr. Creasy left the University of Texas in 2014 to focus on EdPsyched full-time. With a background in psychology and athletics, he has a unique perspective on the learning process. He believes that students are most successful when placed in an encouraging environment and given guidance to inspire their personal and academic growth. Dr. Creasy understands what it takes for students from a variety of backgrounds to transition successfully from one academic level to the next.
Dr. Creasy is a Licensed Psychological Associate with Independent Practice, which is a Master’s-level licensure. The Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists provides a detailed explanation of this licensure here.
Our mentors are highly-skilled graduate students from universities in the Austin area, including The University of Texas and Texas State University. Each mentor is selected based on two important criteria: knowledge of the learning process and the ability to relate that knowledge to the students.
Many of our mentors have backgrounds in school counseling, so they understand the unique learning styles and obstacles of each individual. Mentors are able to communicate ideas clearly to both students and parents and establish relationships that foster academic and personal growth.
Additionally, each mentor has a specific academic specialization. Many of our mentors provide subject-specific tutoring as part of the mentoring process. Our mentors offer tutoring services for most middle-school and high-school courses as well as the SAT.
